Been wanting to try peking house for awhile now and I finally got a chance recently. Came here on Friday noon time, there was some empty meters near by. There was no line or customers, ordering was easy and the staff was nice. I ended up ordering 6 piece chili fried chicken, 1 green garlic rance, and 1 cheddar corn bread with apple honey. The fried chicken came out steaming hot and drench in chili oil. The chicken was crunchy and juicy. The chili wasn't spicy, more for flavor and after a few bites you can feel the Szechuan numbing on the tongue. I dip the chicken in the green garlic ranch, had a refreshing taste. The cheddar corn bread was bomb and a must order! the apple honey gives it a sweetness. overall the fried chicken was pretty good, it is kind of expensive, but what isn't expensive now a days. If you are near by, I recommend coming here and giving it a try for yourself, much cheaper trying it here than flying to new york. Also there are 4 tables outside for you to sit.

I randomly saw this pop up come up in my feed and seeing that this came from NY, got me really curious & was excited to try! I came on Thursday at 3 pm & pick up was very easy. There were quite a few spots on the street with parking meters. I placed an order online & I saw that there is always a lot of availability to place your order. They also take walk-in orders which should be no problem as it was not super busy. They told me it would take 5 min to finish my order so I think they prep everything fresh when you check-in to pick up so that the chicken is still crispy. I sat outside in the patio to enjoy the food. There is also some chairs against the window if you want to sit inside. Let me tell you I don't regret coming out my way for this! I got the $30 meal, pretty pricey imo. The sichuan hot chili chicken was SO GOOD. The outer skin was crispy & the chicken inside was so juicy. The bean salad was very refreshing, I just wish the beans were a little softer but the mushrooms in it were delicious. The dirty rice was comforting & pretty flavorful. I also bought the green garlic ranch which complimented the chicken well. I definitely would recommend to try. The sichuan spice was the perfect amount.

Sichuan x Nashville hot fried chicken? OH YES! I am so late in the game. I caught wind on a random post on Instagram and learning that this is a Tuk Tuk x Turntable collaboration pop-up that will end in the end of October, I knew i had to try it out. The pop up is located in the north end of Sawtelle, quite a bit away from the Sawtelle Japantown area. It is two doors down of Tuk Tuk Thai. (BTW, this is a perfect time to warn or make note NOT to go to the Tuk Tuk restaurant, especially on a busy Saturday night. I went there first because I thought it was the same place and the restaurant was so busy that it took a good 15 mins to be acknowledge.) However, the people who worked at the actual pop-up were the extreme opposite- super friendly and accommodating and looking less stressed. Although it is a pop-up, the interior design look like a continuation of Tuk Tuk. There is a pretty large waiting area and outdoor seating. I ordered the combination of three pieces of chili fried chicken, bean salad and dirty rice. The bean salad with sesame is light and refreshing and a good compliment to the chicken. The dirty rice is also light and refreshing. The chicken liver is not overbearing and its a good dish to compliment the chicken, which is the rockstar of the show. It has a bite with just enough heat that lingers but isn't leaving you running around, looking for a beverage. The crunch- SO LOUD! The batter is so crispy and full of flavor and the meat is moist. Make sure you get the green ranch sauce! Overall, I enjoyed my dinner and might go back before they close. The sides were okay so I might just get the chicken bring it home. The only other thing i would like to try is the almond panna cotta.

I finally got to try this new pop up in Sawtelle and it was worth the hype! I came here right when it opened on a Saturday and there was no wait. There's a cute outdoor seating area in the front and a few counter seats inside. The inside was more of an ordering area though so I opted to sit outside. I got the 3 piece Chili Fried Chicken ($17) and added the green garlic ranch ($2). The chicken was juicy and the breading was phenomenal. Each piece had a crispy crust that gave it that crunch factor and the chili seasoning was slightly sweet while packing some heat! The green garlic ranch was the perfect balance to the spice from the chili and it added even more flavor to the chicken. I highly recommend adding this to your order! Overall, this is a solid spot for a unique take on fried chicken. I hope it stays around longer because I'd want to go back to get more!

Heard from a buddy of mine that chef Eric Huang was bringing his famous Chili Fried Chicken from NYC to Sawtelle for the summer pop-up shop at Tuk Tuk x Turntable next door down from the main Tuk Tuk restaurant, so we had to give it a try. We Ordered: Two 3pc meals with dirty fried rice, butter bean salad, and cheesey cornbread. First of all, the chili fried chicken was fantastic. The batter with all the spices was spot on. The thick skin was crunchy and had a perfect balance of heat and numbing sensation from the szechuan pepper. The chicken was tender, moist, and juicy. 5 stars. I highly recommend trying before they're gone

Tuk tuk x Turntable is a pop up kitchen hosted by Tuk Tuk Thai (2 stores down) that in recent months has hosted Pecking House, a spiced fried chicken spot that originated from NYC. Their primary dishes include a 3 piece (breast, thigh, wing) for $17 or a sandwich for $15. You can also get a combo which is the 3 piece and sides for $30. The 3 piece was well cooked - moist and seasoned well where you can taste the five spice and chili and a hint of mala but it never really hits you on the Scoville scale. It's a good bite though for $17, a bit too rich for my regular rotation of local spot. Worth splitting a bucket with a friend though! Service is chill. And there's 4 cozy outdoor tables.

WHEN: Sun @12pm (Hurricane Hilary Day) I just arrived to LA the day before and wished I knew about this pop-up lead to Sunday, the day of Hurricane Hilary the only day for me to try this pop up before heading back up to the Bay Area. So far the morning for the flash flood warning due to Hurricane Hilary, it would just be a 10 minute walk in the rain. I called to make sure they were open and they were! I arrived and was prolly the first since they just opened. The staff was so kind he even thanked me for walking here (which I enjoyed actually). Here's what I got: THAI TEA - $5 I only got this in case I cousins handle the spice. It's quite sweet and very delicious! CHILI FRIED CHICKEN (3) - $17 Fried chicken spiced with sichuan and tianjin chili by Chef Eric Huang from Pecking House, NY.  I remember it being 2 thighs and 1 drumstick but oddly I was full after just having one drumstick! All that amazing richness and flavor filled me up! Im someone who can't handle spicy food but this I can! I appreciate it not being stupid spicy and it doesn't have the numbing kind of spice (it might be tiny bit). It was manageable and my stomach was fine hours to days later! It's was crispy, flavorful, not dry, a bit of sweetness but mostly savory with spice flavors for the most part. There was even a pool of chili oil at the bottom of the bucket! Even hours later and nuking in the microwave the chicken is still crispy and tasty as ever! GREEN GARLIC RANCH - $2 I highly recommend getting the dip cuz it pairs so well! Especially if you're a fan of ranch dipping sauce! Although there was one small table and a chair inside, they have covered patio seating with a total of three tables with two chairs each. this pop-up is very well decorated and I love the color scheme. A staff member brought out my order and when he learned I was dining in, he proceeded to bring out some disposable plates and cutleries, and a wet nap. After I got home for a short while I actually consider going back out to try their Panna cotta and corn bread but then the earthquake happened. So sadly I stayed home with just memories of the fried chicken. This pop up is open Wed-Sun from 11:30-10pm through Oct 22nd!

This is a pop-up space affiliated with Tuk Tuk Thai a couple doors down. Not sure if it was the first pop up in the space, but I came here to grab some Sichuan chili fried chicken from Pecking House (NYC). My buddy, and I split some fried chicken, some dirty, fried rice, the butter bean salad, and some cornbread. That chicken had such a great crunch to it! I've seen it pop up on social media but wasn't sure I was going to be able to try it since it's out of New York. It left that slight tingly spice on your lips without being too spicy. I know this because I wasn't sweating, ha ha. Seriously this chicken is so freaking good. All the sides were amazing as well. Both the rice and the bean salad had great flavors to it. I loved the cornbread as well. The best part was after we finished eating I didn't feel gross. Ordering was really easy. We put in our order through the Tock app. We were actually just drinking a block away, so it made it easy to walk over and pick up our food. There's also a few tables outside of the pop-up location where you can sit and eat. Since it is affiliated with Tuk Tuk, we were able to order a couple of beers from Tuk Tuk to have with our meal. My buddy who was eating with me actually was with me in Thailand during grad school. It brought us back to Thailand eating spicy food, with Thai beers in hot weather, haha. Overall, it was a great experience and really great food. I can't wait to see what else is going to pop up in the space. But if you want to try the Pecking House, fried chicken, I believe that it's still available for the next few weeks.
